Let’s step back to 1968, the year Richard Nixon was elected into the White House, to the Pro-Nixon Rally at Madison Square Garden -- New York City, October 31st, 1968.

What Pacifica listeners heard - that the television audience did not hear - were the instructions to the delegates as if they were extras on a movie set. As you listen to the warm up speaker, realize that these were never meant to be heard by the viewers.

The economist of Indian origin on President-elect Barack Obama's transition team, Ms. Sonal Shah, has one dubious credential on her resume--her relationship with the Hindu extremist group, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Obama: Change You Can Believe In...NOT!
Posted on October 10, 2008, 7:46 pm
Part 1. The Economy

It is often said that you are known by the company you keep. If that is true, then progressive voters should familiarize themselves with at least some of Sen. Barack Obama's advisers and fundraisers, and by this I don't mean Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Mr. Future President, will you be the one to end black lung?
Posted on September 18, 2008, 1:54 pm

With all the talk this election season about the oxymoronic "clean coal" technology, very few people are talking about the human and environmental effects of actually getting the coal out of the ground. This article from Daily Yonder (reposted with permission) is an open letter to the next President to eradicate black lung - a chronic, debilitating health side effect of coal mining that has unfortunately become a political non-issue among most national politicians.

I saw Sharif get hauled away, along with many other members of the press and legal observers. Some minors have been taken as well. Check back in the morning for updates.

Reforming the Electoral System
Posted on September 4, 2008, 11:40 pm

If you really don't like the US electoral system, here are some things you can do.

1) Register to vote, but list yourself as an independent or decline-to-state. If you really feel the need to vote for a major party candidate in a later election and your state requires you to be a member of that party in order to vote in the primary, you can change later. And if you want to have an effect on the Republicans or Democrats, voting in their primaries or caucuses in essential!

More arrests!
Posted on September 4, 2008, 10:41 pm
Getting word from Aura Bogado and also the Flashpoints team that there are mass arrests going on now in the streets and on the bridges while McCain speaks. Inside the arena, protests also happened, probably Code Pink. Got that from Davey D who is on the floor with the crowd. Inside protesters were dragged out and booed. Stay tuned -- we'll go to Aura as soon as possible. Checked in with our crew on the streets, so far they are all OK. Whew. I asked the Sheriff outside what he knew, but he was real sketchy. Nonetheless he told me they have multiple holding facilities. More as it goes.

doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results, then the convention protesters are insane. How many times do we have to go through this?
