What gives here? I just heard both Giuliani and Palin diss Obama for being a community organizer in the '80s.
Giuliani couldn't finish the sentence without laughing: "He worked as a community organizer..." - as if there was something absolutely hilarious about it.
And then Palin: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
Of all the things for the Republicans to go after, they choose Obama's past as a community organizer? Really? I've thought that's one of the coolest parts about Obama, that somewhere deep down, he must remember the poor communities he used to work with and for. That he understands that real change comes from people organizing to make demands on the powerful. That he knows how to relate to people and balance a lot of personalities to make positive steps happen.
Oh... maybe now I get why the Republicans belittle community organizers.
