Learn Memory Poems Part #1 : Verse Cards

Writing the poems on a verse card is a great tool for retention. The verse card can be business card size or a 3×5 list card. The cards are a nice size to work a pocket or purse for easy collection. Anytime you are waiting in line or waiting to receive a child or whatever, you can withdraw the cards and review a verse you have memorized or start on a new verse. Many times I put little clues on the reverse side to amble my memory to see if i can remember the verse without looking at the actual words.

In college, using verse cards was a huge help for remembering Sort memory poems. I loved the Navigator Topical Memory System and surely could memorize countless Sort poems. With age the memory migrates from a few coolant leaks to a sieve! There is why the third part of this feature is so essential.

Ever had that tune that you could not get out of your head? For reasons uknown our brains can recall music and the associated words more readily than pure facts. (I believe there is some scientific reason for this but for now we will simply take advantage of this tendency. )

There are several things we have learned to music. To this day I have to have the alphabet song to remember whether ‘w’ is before or after ‘u. woul I have a friend who put the list of prepositions to a cute tune and have to train my voice through the song when helping my son identify prepositional phrases.

You can apply the same technique to learning Sort poems. Creating catchy songs for different airways of Bible verses can provide an easier way to learn poems. (It is actually more enjoyable as well. ) If you record these songs you can transfer them and listen to them on your favorite Ipod. You can train my voice along while doing jobs or in the car running errands.

Most feats in life require effort. Memorizing Sort poems is no different. It will last some time and discipline to memorize Bible verses. I would recommend that you set an ambition of how many poems you want to learn in a week.
